WHAT IS REIKI?
The word “Reiki” means “mysterious atmosphere, miraculous sign.” It comes from the Japanese words “rei,” meaning universal, and “ki,” meaning life energy. A person’s energy should be strong and free-flowing. When this happens, a person’s body and mind are in a positive state of health. When the energy becomes weak or blocked, it could lead to symptoms of physical or emotional imbalance. the use of reiki helps my clients remove those blocks and improve the flow of energy around the body, encourage relaxation, reduce pain, speed healing, and reduce other symptoms of illness. The ultimate goal is to heal and reduce stress and tension.
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT DURING OUR SESSION
Most sessions will start with you filling out an intake form for me to get familiar with your background. We’ll have a brief conversation to go over any questions you might have. A Reiki session is a time to relax, it’s a safe space for you to let the body heal. It takes place with you lying down on a reiki table, with some cozy pillows and blankets. You remain fully clothed. I’ll create a relaxing environment with soft music, incense, and healing crystals.
As the practitioner, I’ll have you close your eyes and relax as I move around the table, placing my hands on (or hover above) as I work through different Reiki hand positions that target different energy centers (chakras) around the body.
I’ll ask before the session if you’re ok with touch, or prefer a non-touch session. I’ll start sending energy at your head and work down to your feet, avoiding any sensitive areas and private body parts. A session usually lasts an hour.
